Awesome!

:
Amazing how smooth it runs and looks on iPad. It's a fun hardcore simulator more than a game. Exactly why I like Trainz for the last 10 years. It is no Railroad Tycoon but still very fun. When playing on iPad, it reminds me of all those Microprose simulation games back in early 90s.

This is the first version. Still have a lot of room for improvement and polishing. Some minor graphic bugs here and there. But overall, it is an awesome app.

If you are reading this, you should already know what Trainz simulator is about. Get it! It is exactly what you have expected!

Very detailed! Can be a lot of fun.

When I first bought this app I went to the tutorial and learn the basic functions of the simulator. It went by fast and showed me enough to get me on my way. I wanted to get right in it and operate my train, so I opened up one of the many routes that are built in. This is when I noticed the first problem, I had the hit the horn to try it out a few times. Well it worked the first time after that It worked when it wanted to. There did seem to be a problem with the sound at other times also, like when I was in and out of the cab there was a lot of distortion at times. After operating my ride for a bit I decided to check out the lay of the land. Using the controls to do this was very easy to handle, but the details of the land took a bit to catch up to where I was. Once it finished filling everything in, it looked great. While riding in the train I didn't notice any of this. Time to pick my own train to operate. They do have a lot of of the newer trains to pick from, but I was hoping for an old steam engine from the old west. I looked around and could not find one. The window to scroll through the different cars and locos showed pictures of them, but they are so small you can't tell which is which. You have to click on every one to see them clearly. They need a button to just scroll the different types of cars and locos. Even went to there site to find out about this. There site has a picture of what I was looking for, but nothing telling me where to find it. I would like to mention the site does have a couple nice tutorials but nothing else, like type of cars and trains. Well I ended up picking a newer santa fe and miss placing it on the tracks. It let me place it right on a paved road and hit a building. lol. I saw the building coming up and thought I'd see a good wreck! Nope! What a disappointment on that one. Well I got it on the track then decided on trying another wreck. I uncoupled my cars, went as fast as old santa fe would go and there straight ahead, stopped just out side a tunnel was the back of my last car I uncoupled. Again, what a disappointment. I hit it as hard as it would go and it just stopped and started pushing it. Guess I just like wrecks.

I did get into the terrain editor and it is very detailed. You can build any terrain you want and then, paint it, instal trees, buildings, animals, people. Nothing in the scenery seems to move but the trains, but I can tell Ill be speeding a lot of hours editing to make my world. I did have problems with there pop-up keypad not going away a few times. I had to quit and come back in.

Is it worth the $12? Depends on the person. I like making little worlds to play in. You are just operating a train, but it is fun to get your place just right, then taking a cruise in it. I would like to see the sound bugs fixed, more trains(old steam and a couple bullet trains), better wrecks, more buildings and plants. I think they will all come in time. It's a great start and worth the money to me.
